According to B. Raman and MK Dhar, Shankaran Nair was respected even by his enemies like the ISI and CIA even more than the Legendary R.N. Kao himself and ISI's Operation Topac was really inspired from Nair's Operation Jackpot.
Bollywood recently made a biopic movie on RAW's female spy Sehmat known as Raazi the film was made on novel Sehmat Calling which was based on true events. The book and movie clearly describes how RAW (indian secret agency) through a Kashmiri girl infiltrating ISI. There is a myth prevailing that OPERATION JACKPOT was started by Indira Gandhi and Kao this is completely false. The original plan was started by IB's operational chief Shanakaran Nair with approval of Lal Bhaduri Shastri. It is Shanakaran Nair who advised Shastriji to not conduct large scale operations in East Pakistan during 1965 Indo-Pak War because it will affect goodwill of India with East Pakistani's Bangla people and will not be good for Operation Jackpot.
According to B.Raman, original plan of Shankaran Nair was also to FREE BALUCHISTAN by linking Indian Navy with Baluch rebels but this plan removed by Indira Gandhi and Kao for unknown reasons. Nair in order to make the operation a success was planting LTRA (LONG TERM RESIDENT AGENT) agents in Pakistan among Pakistani politicians, Pakistani Armed forces and ISI. One of Nair's priced LTRA agent was Harfan Bokhari who he himself planted among ISI and Pakistani Army to know their operations against India. Indira Gandhi wanted to remove Shastriji and herself wanted to become the PM of India for this she saw Shankaran's Nair Operation Jackpot as the perfect tool because the Bangladesh Liberation will wipe the black spot of China Debacle from the Gandhi Family. She used to summon Shankaran Nair to know the details of Operation Jackpot and the progress of Harfan Bokhari case. It was at a club that was frequented by the country’s top military men and politicians in Rawalpindi where Pakistan’s future dictator, General Yahya Khan, fell for her.
Harfan Bokhari knowing that General Rani is mistress of Yahya Khan and frequented by top army men and politicians seduced and cultivated her without her knowing that she was working for RAW's DEEP COVER AGENT. Bokhari used to provide her ayurvedic medicines for breast ailment secretly as relations with India were sour. Later she died of this breast ailment which turned out to be breast cancer.
