HOW TO JOIN INDIAN RAW AGENCY
The Research and Analysis Wing, or RAW, is India’s foreign intelligence agency. RAW’s objective is to keep an eye on political and military developments that impact the development of India’s security and foreign policies. It was in the 1969s that RAW was formed.

Many students who are interested in joining RAW and IB wonder how to join RAW and IB after doing 12th, graduation or BTECH/Engineering courses. If you are serious about career in RAW and IB here are the following steps and suggestion. Though you cannot apply for RAW as an intelligence officer after completing 12th exam but you can certainly select courses which can increases your recruitment chances in RAW and IB and the best option is going for Journalist courses as RAW and IB prefer people with journalism background. Many top level RAW and IB Chiefs and Officers are from journalism background like B. RAMAN (Additional Secretary of RAW) who was journalist in Indian Express and MK DHAR (Joint Director of IB) was journalist at Amrit Bazar Patrika. With journalist background if you can clear civil service exam like IPS then you will be recruited in RAW and IB's top level positions or you can be directly recruited from top level Universities which provide journalism and multilingual courses.
What is the salary of RAW agents and Officers?
The salary of RAW officers is between 80,000 to 1 lakh plus but top level cryptographers and hackers can get between 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh. Additionally, RAW officers also get (DA) dearness allowance apart from their pay. Step 1: Most of those who are recruited in RAW are chosen from the civil services and armed forces.
Step 2: You cannot apply to a position in RAW, you will be recruited from the armed or civil cervices, so you need to build a strong career. RAW agents can also be selected directly from their universities.
Step 3: If you are selected, then you sit for a National Aptitude Test in Intelligence followed by personality and psychological test as well as interviews. It is a 10-day introduction that takes place in Delhi. During this course, you will be learn the basic terms for intelligence, classified intelligence and other basics regarding the job.
Step 4: After completing basic training, you will be sent to a Field Intelligence Bureau. The training period here is between 1 to 2 years. You will be taught how to handle real life situations. You are then given training in self-defence, setting up networks, facing interrogation and successful execution of intelligence missions.
Step 5: Once you have successfully completed training, you are qualified to start your appointed mission.
